I was having a conversation with my sisters last year about responsibility. We were talking about bad things happening in our lives and who was to blame. The initial response was ‘the devil’ then after a long chat we soon realised that actually we give the devil way too much credit.
I don’t know whether it is a cultural thing to either be nonchalant about the devil or to be over zealous about the damage he actually does in our lives. I just know that we are missing something. We are missing the most important part of pain, hurt, failure, relationship breakdown etc that is YOU (and me).
Where was the devil when you had a bad attitude? Where was the devil when you created a whatsapp group just to talk about someone? He wasn’t there…YOU were. I know that the enemy is there to kill steal and destroy but we need to differentiate between calling your ex a bum and realising that YOU picked him.
One of the hardest things to do is to look in the mirror and have an honest conversation with the person looking back at you. It is however the most rewarding thing you will do.
If something is not working out in your life try to see what the common denominator is. Pastor Keion Henderson said sometimes the things we ask God to do or change in our lives are things that we have the power to do ourselves.
Be accountable. Live above offence. Start with you.

Take care of you…
